Amanita Muscaria ~Original Painting~
Amanita Muscaria 8” x 8” Acrylic on Panel
Amanita Muscaria has been used for shamanic ritual, as a currency and even as an explanation for Christianity. In the Scandinavian peninsula in the 19th century, the indigenous Sami people would wait in their houses on winter solstice to be visited by the shamans. These shamans would preform healing rituals using the hallucinogenic Amanita Muscaria. The shamans would act as conduits between the human and spirit worlds and the Muscaria would bring gifts of introspection. It’s said that they left as they arrived… on sleds pulled my reindeer, dressed in red and white.
